Stakeholder consultation for the future of the 'local' EU Green Deal

18.10.2023 09:41

The EU Green Deal (EGD) is a cornerstone in advancing climate neutrality by 2050 and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the EU. However, several targets directly involve Local and Regional Authorities (LRAs) for their actual implementation. As such, LRAs are forerunners in the implementation of EGD policies.
As we are now approaching the end of the mandate of the current Commission, the time is right to kick-start the reflection on what the "future" Green Deal and the role of LRAs in its implementation will be!

This is why we launched a stakeholder consultation survey for urban policy experts and policymakers: informing the next European Commission regarding policy and target priorities for EU cities. Besides, since green transition is far from being a smooth process, the aim is to understand and contextualize which structural conditions and major barriers are still preventing the achievement of EGD policies in cities. Finally, we also collected success stories contributing to the EGD implementation in cities.

The consultation is now closed, we will share the results soon.
